Now I replaced the aperture setting ring into the lens body and topped it all with the thinned top ring. Note the shiny screw heads indicating they have been made to be flush with the top of the metal ring. 4 screws as originally holds this ring in place. Note the total absence of black anodized surface indicating this ring is pretty thin! Next to the lens is the EF lens mount awaiting installation on the back of the lens.
