This is what the combination looked like. I did not have a tap to properly install the screws (that also came from a bag of salvaged parts) so they were jammed (so to speak) into the holes I made. Since the holes were just slightly smaller than the diameter of the found screws the screws essentially became self tapping. I apologize to the machinists who would think of this as sacrilege! But this combo was adaptable to the lathes jaws and the thinning process continued
