I must confess that the process of adaptation did not start with this lens. I "sacrificed" a spare 50 mm f/1.4 FD Canon lens to learn how the lens operating mechanisms were set up. I reasoned that all, or most all, Canon FD lenses were designed to be similar in this respect. So after partially (mostly) disassembling the 50 mm it became apparent to me that a modification of any FD lens would be possible without destroying vital systems within the lens.

In fact, I already knew that aperture automation would be lost but my objective was to retain infinity focusing capability, retain maximum aperture and image quality of the lens. Losing aperture automation I felt was a small price to pay to accomplish these goals.
