In 1990 I
collaborated with an
Israeli Photography magazine's
editor on a "summary" article on how to adapt 35mm
cameras to making peripheral, photofinish or linear strip photographs
or peripheral ones. These applications were already hinted at in 1971
in
an article I wrote for Popular Photography but this one describes in
Hebrew describing the procedures needed.

Below is my article
that was published in the
Photographic Society of America Journal in the year 2000. It describes
the Phoenix Process. A short lived method of making use of the normally
discarded paper negative produced when using certain Polaroid films
such as type 667. When using that film you generate a positive print
(which you keep) plus a negative image on the usually discarded paper
by-product. I found these negative images exhibits significant
Sabattier effect (some call it solarization) and my Phoenix Process
describes how to make positives of those paper products and
exploit
their Sabattier effect.
