Welcome to the guidelines for submission
to:
PhotoForum book of members' photographs SUBMISSION DEADLINE: APRIL 10, 2025 1. To participate you must be a registered member of the PhotoForum mail list or be approved by the book coordinator. Andrew Davidhazy, andpph@rit.edu 2. You are alloted two pages and may submit any photograph or photographs you wish. Below is a link to sample pages for you to get an idea of how past pages looked like. 3. The coordinator of the project will be responsible for the arrangment of the submissions and his/her decisions will not be open to negotiation by those who have submitted work. The book will have an opening page with some text describing who we are as a group and how we operate, where to find us online, why it got started, etc. See sample pages here: http://www.davidhazy.org/andpph/PhotoForum 2025 book sample pages.jpg Each photographer gets a left and a right page. Each page can hold a single image or more than one image. They and provided text will be made to fit within the confines of the available print area which is approximately (vertical) 6.5 inches by (horizontal) 8.5 inches or 165x215mm. If you decide to include more than one image on a page you could assemble all the images into a single image file and send that instead of several small files. However, pepare as much as you can. Please submit at 300 DPI and JPEG compressed so they hopefully don't exceed 1 or 2 MB each. Another way to size your images is that they should be roughly 3000 pixels in the longest dimension unless a 2 page spread. Don't stress over this if you don't know how to meet this criterion just send what you'd like included to the best of your ability. If problems develop the project manager will be in touch with you. Text submitted by each author might include such things as: author title of photograph(s) (if any) maybe a descriptive paragraph about the photograph or an artist's statement possibly a brief biography contact information for author such as email and/or website, etc.. Text should be provided as a plain text file since design considerations may dictate the need to adjust text material during the production process. But we can work around this individually as well. Point being that if there are many exeptions the overall "look" of the book may suffer. The font will ultimately probably be Hoefler Text. Less text than suggested above is OK. A copyright notice will be included in each author's page covering their photograph(s). At this time we have approximately 14 members who indicated an interest in participating. IFYI, the project manager may decline inclusion of offensive images at his/her discretion.
